• Involving 9 people from 8 states

• WGS confirmed to be related

• Illnesses started on dates ranging from July 17, 2015 to December 15, 2017

• Same Salmonella Enteridis identified in sample from an ill person’s pet guinea pig in Vermont

• These rodents may be carrying Salmonella and not appear to be sick

• Pet rodents: NOT recommended for children <5 yo, should not be kept in childcare centers

• Wash your hands after touching, feeding, or caring for pet rodents or cleaning their habitats
